No More PT

Since October of 2008 Cooper has received PT in our home once a week. Torticollis and low muscle tone have been the primary reasons for his PT and delays. He is now finally jumping, running and doing most age appropriate things, his stability compared to others his age is not the same. Cooper will probably always have to work harder. He is actually very strong but can just wear out quicker due to the low tone. He is a little fighter and doesn't let it stop him from trying to do everything his athletic older brother is doing. All that being said he is DONE with his PT as of this week. He is doing GREAT! We will miss seeing Miss Kim. She has been a weekly part of our life for 2.5 years. Cooper has had an on and off love/hate relationship with her over that time :) I mean who likes someone who makes the stretch tight muscles, do wall sits and crunches... no one :)

Getting scanned for his helmet that he has to wear for 6 months. His head was flat from his low tone and prematurity that cause him physical delays that prevented him from being mobile... thus on his back A LOT!

 His facial features were even affected by this.  Causing his left cheek to protrude more, thus this was added to hold that side as his head grew. 

Due to low tone, Cooper pronates.  Or what most people would say is that he is flat footed.  He had no arch thus rolls in on his feet.  These SMO's are designed to have him stand properly on his foot as he learns to walk, thus better for his knees, hips and whole body alignment for life.

Oh and don't forget the broken ankle right after he took his first steps that slowed us down even more :)

But like we said, he is doing great now.  Cooper is a little fighter.  The Lord has carried us through all of this and other things with Cooper.  Pat and I have grown closer to God through this, having a peace about it all that is ONLY from the Lord.  And we realize that even though Coopers life has been filled with some challenges thus far, it is NOTHING compared to what many families go through with their children.  You just have to go to a few appointments at Riley Children's Hospital and realized how blessed we are.

Cooper makes us laugh and smile everyday... he is a joy in our life... which is a good thing these days since we are smack in the middle of the two year old temper and discipline issues!
